gotta say, this is, by far the best custom mega evolution I've seen! it looks great, especially the fact that it isn't too drastic a change from its original form like most other peoples' custom evolutions. the grass/fire type makes perfect sense as its most detrimental weakness (fire) is eliminated and its ability needs sunshine to activate. all I can suggest is that its ability can possibly be something like Solar Power+ (Solar Power Plus) or something like that where it raises all the stats of ally pokemon rather than just the two. this will make Mega Cherrim the ultimate support pokemon! (that smogon will inevitably ban lol ) gotta say man, this thing looks awesome! grass types are my favorite type of all. Mega SceptileXMega Cherrim ftw!
wouldn't be surprised if Gamefreak added your design to the new games. Bravo!
Hey, I attempted a profile write up if you're interested:
Upon Mega Evolving, Cherrim has discovered a means to create its own light with fire, and can at last enjoy being cheerful and energetic even in the darkest of nights or cloudiest of days. Although being in bright sunlight increases its vitality even more, it runs the risk of wearing itself out too quickly.
this is the perfect pokemon for a grass and fire type so this is needed and right now...
Also, I feel like Solar Ray should have power of 100 or slightly higher, but the catch is that it ONLY works during the Sunny weather condition. It should have a 20% chance to lower opponent's accuracy as well as a 25% chance to burn the opponent. However, for the sun to even become active, I feel it's ability should be changed to a renamed version of the Drought ability (because Drought doesn't really fit as an ability for such an amazing flower).
Okay, I was the one who actually asked Kyuzeth to make the base stat total so I can do the analysis, so let's get this over with.
Cherrim @ Cherrite
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Giga Drain / Solar Beam
- Solar Ray
- Hidden Power Rock
- Dazzling Gleam
Mega Cherrim has serious competition for a Solar Power Mega Evolution sweeper in the form of Mega Houndoom, who is faster, stronger, and has greater bulk. However, Mega Cherrim still has its uses. For starters, Mega Houndoom struggles with getting past bulky Water-types outside of the sun due to relying on Solar Beam, and is hard walled by Hydreigon without Hidden Power Fighting. Cherrim, on the other hand, has just enough of a movepool to stop most of Mega Houndoom's counters. If being used outside of the Sun, Giga Drain servers as Cherrim's STAB of choice, hitting bulky Water, Ground, and Rock types hard. It even has its uses in the Sun, restoring Cherrim's HP that it loses from Solar Power. Solar Beam, however, hits much harder and has the added benefit of not having to charge when Cherrim is in the Sun. Solar Ray is Cherrim's only Fire-type STAB, being as powerful as Flamethrower, but with an addition added affect of lowering an opponents accuracy, which can really screw them over in an important situation, It also has a benefit of receiving a boost from the Sun, due to it being a Fire-type attack. Solar Ray gets past the Steel-types that walled Cherrim in the past, such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn. Hidden Power Rock deals with the many Fire-types that can take a Solar Ray or Solar Beam, such as Charizard, while Dazzling Gleam deals with Dragon-types, such as Salamence and Garchomp.
Cherrim's base 105 Speed is good, but not great, so it needs faster Pokemon to deal with its checks. Greninja, Choice Scarf Garchomp, and Talonflame are prime examples of Pokemon that can do this. Physically Defensive Rotom-W also makes for a great partner, shutting down Tyranitar with Will-O-Wisp, and OHKOing Talonflame. Ninetails is also an effective partner for its ability to provide Sun support to power up Cherrim's attacks. Cherrim is weak to Stealth Rock, so Rapid Spin support helps in keeping Cherrim alive, making Starmie and Excadrill good partners. Finally, powerful Fighting-types like Lucario, Infernape, and Terrakion all help Cherrim in getting past Blissey, who hard walls any Special Attacker. Mega Cherrim's typing is awkward, leaving it weak to Flying, Poison, and Rock, so it can find multiple opportunities to switch in during a match, but it still needs plenty of support to succeed.
May I suggest having 2 for Cherrim to keep the Overcast fans from breaking your windows. When I say 2, I mean 1 for if it Mega Evolved in Overcast Form and one when in Sunshine Form. I can see this one working for Sunshine, but maybe having the Overcast with it's bud opened up like an umbrella or something???
