tell me he doesn't have the move Present..
Pr0XLi Featured By Owner Edited Oct 29, 2014
I wouldn't give Delibird Huge Power as it doesn't really fit Delibird's motif like it (sorta) does with Mawile. I do understand why such a low BST pokemon needs an ability like that or Moody to cheat its stats, or needs a versatile (like a Smeargle) or specialized (like I don't what) movepool to be used.

An ability that would help it cheat its stats while being more in line with its motif would probably be priority-related. ("Priority Mail," anyone?) Both Prankster and Gale Wings would be acceptable fits; Delibird on the other hand could get an ability that would maybe give Priority to all of its attacking moves, or, instead, to "Present"-type moves (which would be a new category), or even to all of its moves in general if we're really desperate. With the middle idea, we could at the very least come up with Ice and Flying-type variants of Present: I'm thinking "Air Mail" and "Cold Treat" would be excellent names. (What's more, these moves could have priority themselves, or the new ability could give Present-type moves +2 priority?) There could also be relevant status moves that are "Present"-type that not only Delibird has access to.

We could also attempt to cheat Delibird's stats using moves (like Foul Play) instead of abilities.

Going from 45/55/45/75/65/45 to 45/95/50/85/105/50 wouldn't necessarily be so bad for Delibird if it got priority on its favorite attacks. It would be a Talonflame with more type coverage if it got a Prankster-type ability for its attacks, and it'd be a gimmicky Talonflame if it got a Gale Wings-type ability for its newly-classed Present-type moves.

I do like the ring of Priority Mail, and you make a convincing argument regarding your ability examples. Definitely would make a suitable replacement for Huge Power, despite its raw strength. :)

The ability should be something that negates the opponent from restoring health with a move.
as in 'Present' can't heal them.
M-T-Hed44 Featured By Owner Jul 25, 2014
You should have given him a HUGE beard to look like Santa :)

You know, at first, I wan't going to do an analysis of this guy, but I just got a good look at its physical movepool, and its surprisingly good.

Delibird @ Delibirdite
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Sky Attack
- Substitute
- Focus Punch

Even with a Mega Evolution, Delibird's stats are still mediocre, but it can be effective. Huge Power and a Base 85 Attack put Delibird at the higher end of the Attack Scale, and its movepool is just useable enough to function with. Ice Punch is Delibird's main STAB, mauling Dragon, Grass, and Ground-types that it can outspeed. If you're paranoid about being outsped by faster Pokemon, then Ice Shard is also a viable option. Sky Attack is Delibird's only usable Flying-type STABs, as Bounce and Fly also take two turns, while Aerial Ace is pathetically weak. It does a good job at breaking through Pokemon that resist its Ice-type STAB, and works well with a Substitute set up. Focus Punch also works well with Substitute, giving Delibird the valuable turn it needs to be able to charge the attacking, and once done so, Focus Punch wrecks anything in Mega Delibird's path.

Mega Delibird's biggests enemies are Stealth Rock, Aegislash, and faster Pokemon. Stealth Rock chips away Delibird's health by 50%, making Rapid Spin support a must, making Starmie and Excadrull good partners for this, but they have the bad habit of sharing weaknesses with Delibrid, Aegislash can be dealt with by the likes of Garchomp and Heatran. Finally, anything faster than Base 105 can beat Delibird due to its nonexistent defenses, so Choice Scarf users, such as Garchomp once again, can deal with this. Delibird is difficult to support, but it pays off when it can sweep.

muramaj Featured By Owner Dec 7, 2013
before giving Delibird a Mega Evolution you will need to give it a usual evolution. It's base stat is only 330 I think and Mega Evolution gives 100 in stat boost. But actually I'd love to see this Delibird is my favourite Pokémon so... I FREAKIN LOVE IT!
KyuubiPikachu Featured By Owner Jan 13, 2014
Mawile has a BST of 380 and it got a Mega.
TCovenantUnbeliever Featured By Owner Jan 27, 2014
Yes, but even so Mega Mawile's ability doubles its attack, so it's really more that just a 100 increase
KyuubiPikachu Featured By Owner Feb 2, 2014
The abilty dosen't go with the stats.

Maybe a new ability?

Checking It Twice : When using Present or Big Present  againist opponent it will always inflict damage and if you use Present or Big Present on an ally in a double or triple battle it will always heal.

Just a thought I had when I did my Mega-Delibird.

Really cool by the way. I love all of these Mega-Evolutions!

oh my god I wish
Shooshy162 Featured By Owner Sep 8, 2013
With that high of an accuracy, Big Present should have like 50% chance of the two.
That could also give it potential use in double battles.
Also I really like the design.
Dragonith Featured By Owner Sep 8, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Oh the hilarity that would ensue when you accidentally OHKO your teammates. xD
evilgman64 Featured By Owner Sep 8, 2013
